A portable, manually-operated wheelchair boarding lift — bringing safe, dignified mobility to specially abled passengers and senior citizens at railway stations across India.
Sahaj Lift is a specially designed accessibility solution developed to support specially abled passengers, wheelchair users, and senior citizens in navigating public infrastructure safely and with dignity.
Designed and developed by Kamgar Engineering Works India Pvt Ltd, Sahaj Lift is engineered for reliability, ease of operation, and suitability for high-footfall environments such as railway stations, metro stations, foot over bridges, and public buildings.
The first installation has been successfully carried out at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai — one of India's most iconic and busiest railway stations.
For many citizens — especially elderly passengers and wheelchair users — navigating staircases and elevated walkways at public spaces can be extremely difficult, unsafe, and undignified.
Sahaj Lift has been developed with the vision of creating safer, more inclusive, and more dignified mobility for everyone who relies on public infrastructure.
"Accessibility should never be an afterthought."
Every aspect of Sahaj Lift is engineered for the demanding conditions of high-footfall public infrastructure.
Platform height adjusted via a manual hand crank — no electricity, no power supply needed. Works anywhere, any time.
Mounted on 4 heavy-duty caster wheels. Staff wheel it to the train door and store it away when not in use.
Each caster has an individual brake lock. All wheels are locked before lifting to ensure a completely stable platform.
Hinged ramp folds flat for transport and deploys to ground level for boarding, or extends 6 inches into the train coach for safe alighting.
Dedicated locking lever must be set to UP before raising the platform, and DOWN before lowering — prevents accidental movement.
Operates with a precise 1-foot positioning gap from the train. Ramp engages 6 inches into the coach for a secure bridge.
Heavy-duty welded steel frame with yellow powder-coat finish — built for daily use in demanding railway station environments.
Fully designed and manufactured in India by Kamgar Engineering Works — locally serviceable, Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Sahaj Lift is suitable across a wide range of public and private infrastructure settings wherever vertical accessibility is needed.
Sahaj Lift is a portable, manually-operated wheelchair boarding lift. Railway staff wheel it to the train door, raise the platform via hand crank to match the train floor, and assist the passenger aboard — no electricity required.
Staff lock the wheels, open the latch and lower the ramp to ground level. The wheelchair passenger rolls onto the platform via the ramp. Latch is secured.
→
Wheel locks are released and staff manoeuvre the lift to the train door, maintaining a 1-foot gap. Wheels are locked again for stability.
→
Locking lever set to UP. Staff turn the hand crank clockwise to raise the platform to train-floor height. The ramp is extended 6 inches into the train and the passenger rolls aboard safely.
Sahaj Lift has been successfully installed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai — one of India's most iconic, busiest, and historically significant railway stations.
This installation marks a significant step toward creating more inclusive and accessible public transport infrastructure in India, providing dignified mobility to specially abled passengers and senior citizens navigating the station.
The CSMT installation serves as a live demonstration of Sahaj Lift's capability in a real-world, high-footfall environment — a testament to its engineering quality and operational reliability.
